DES MOINES, Iowa - Ole Miss freshmen Neal Tisher and Morris Kersh both turned in top-10 finishes Friday in their respective events on the third day of the USA Junior Track and Field Championships from Drake Stadium.
Tisher took sixth place in the pole vault with a height of 12-01.75, while Kersh placed 10th in the triple jump with a distance of 47-07.75.
Rebel freshman sprinter Mike Granger was crowned the champion of the 100 meters Thursday at the USA Junior Track and Field Championships.
The Hickory, Miss., turned in a time of 10.30 in the finals and is the first Rebel since Antwon Hicks won the 110 meter hurdles in 2002 to win an event at the USA Junior Track and Field Championships.
Granger posted a time of 10.29 in the preliminaries to tie the mark he recorded earlier in the season as the fifth-fastest runner in school history.
His victory automatically earned him a spot on the USA Junior Track and Field team, and Granger will compete in the 100 meters and the 4x100 meter relay for the USA at the IAAF World Junior Championships July 19-25 from Moncton, Canada.
Freshman Brittany Bozeman finished in sixth place in the heptathlon with a total of 4,815 points after recording three top-10 finishes. The Moreno Valley, Calif., won the long jump with a distance of 19-00.50. She also finished third in the shot put (36-05.75) and seventh in the javelin throw (118-07.00).
Tisher also competed in the heptathlon and took ninth place after collecting 4,715 points and also placed in the top-10 of three events. Tisher won the javelin throw with a mark of 127-02.00, while posting a seventh place finish in the 100 meter hurdles (14.58) and an eight place finish in the 800 meters (2:26.46).
Sophomore Carson Blanks competed at the USA Track and Field Championships and placed 19th in the 400 Meter Hurdle preliminaries and turned in a time of 57.34.
Ole Miss returns to action Sunday at 12:15 p.m. when Ricky Robertson and Brian Knight compete in the high jump.
