OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss golfer Jonathan Randolph has received an invitation to play in the Nationwide Tour's Children's Hospital Invitational as an amateur this week at the Ohio State University Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. Play begins Thursday, July 22 and concludes Sunday, July 25.
Randolph, along with 10 other individuals, received exemption into the tournament based on their All-America status earned as collegiate golfers. The Brandon, Miss., native enters the tournament hoping to rebound from a disappointing showing last week at the Southern Amateur, where he missed the cut.
In its fourth year as the only invitational on the Nationwide Tour, the Children's Hospital Invitational has already produced one winner from the college ranks, Daniel Summerhays of BYU in 2007, as well as a playoff runner-up, Rickie Fowler of Oklahoma State in 2009.
Joining Randolph in the field as the other All-American invitees is Bud Cauley (Alabama), Scott Langley (Illinois), Dustin Garza (Wichita State), Russell Henley (Georgia), John Chin (UC-Irvine), Andrea Pavan (Texas A&M), Morgan Hoffman and Peter Uhlein (Oklahoma State), Diego Velasquez (Oregon State) and Patrick Reed (Augusta State).
As a junior in 2009-10, Randolph posted three wins, eight top-five and nine top-10 finishes in 12 tournaments. He was a first-team All-Southeastern Conference selection and ended the year ranked No. 6 nationally in Golfweek.
Scores for the Children's Hospital Invitational can be followed live at pgatour.com. Fans can watch the action on Golf Channel Thursday and Friday (11:30 - 1:30 p.m. CDT), Saturday (5:30-8:30 p.m. CDT) and Sunday (6-8:30 p.m. CDT).
