SAN FRANCISCO - Retirement hasn't prevented Langston Rogers from earning awards, including the most impactful yet.

Ole Miss' decorated sports information director, who stepped down after 29 years with the Rebels in April, grabbed some more hardware this week at the Sports Information Directors of America convention in San Francisco.

On Monday, the organization surprised Rogers by announcing the naming of a CoSIDA Postgraduate Scholarship in his honor. In 2008, Rogers received the organization's Trailblazer Award for mentoring and assisting young professionals in the field, particularly minority and female SIDs. The Langston Rogers Postgraduate Scholarship honor will be given to a rising minority or female athletics PR professional.

The former CoSIDA President and Hall of Famer, Rogers was also distinguished at this week's workshop with CoSIDA's Lifetime Achievement Award. That honor will go on a resumé that already included the 2001 Arch Ward Award, which is presented to a CoSIDA member who has made outstanding contributions to the field of college sports information and is the highest award presented to a member of the national organization.

Rogers was not the only Rebel in attendance at CoSIDA's annual festivities. Tuesday's Hall of Fame Gala was emceed by Ole Miss alum Ron Franklin of ESPN, which co-sponsored the event with the NCAA.
