Eleven Rebels Earn National Track Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS - Eleven members of the Ole Miss track and field team have earned All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Representing the Rebels who excel on the track and in the classroom were Kristin Bridges, Aria Gaines, Sofia Hellberg-Jonsen, Davina Orieukwu, Sofie Persson, Juliana Smith and Neal Tisher on the women's side and Barnabas Kirui, Karl Kosman, Lee Ellis Moore and Bryce Willen on the men's side.

Hellberg-Jonsen, a business major, and Moore, a biological science major, were two of 37 All-Academic honorees in the nation who were reported to have cumulative GPAs of 4.0 and above.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or participated in the NCAA Division I Outdoor Championships (including preliminary rounds) in their respective event.
