OXFORD, Miss. - Current Ole Miss softball players Brittany Barnhill and Cali Overbeck joined former teammates Lauren Grill and Amber Tramp on a six-day barnstorming tour of Puerto Rico.
Sponsored by Worth Equipment, the select team, which was made up of college stars such as Georgia's Alison Owen and Oregon's Carlyn Re, played 12 games over six days against Puerto Rican club teams including the Puerto Rican National and Junior National squads and posted an impressive 11-1 mark.
"The trip was really a blast," said Barnhill, a senior from Rhome, Texas. "It was so much fun to play well against good competition. It was great to play against the Puerto Rican national teams to help them prepare for international competition later this summer. I think we really helped them become better players."
Barnhill posted a perfect 4-0 record in the circle for Team Worth and Overbeck recorded several big hits to help their squad defeat the Puerto Rican National team for tournament championship.
"It was fun to get to hang out and play with my Ole Miss teammates again and meet some new ones," Barnhill added. "It was such a beautiful place to play and definitely a great summer experience."
