David Takes Third Place At David Toms Intercollegiate

SHREVEPORT, La. - Joe David earned his fifth career top-five finish and third of the season with a team-best 2-under 214, as the Ole Miss Rebels concluded the David Toms Intercollegiate in seventh place on Monday.
David birdied the final hole of the day to move into the tie for third at 2-under. The senior from Madison, Tenn., has finished in third place in three of four tournaments to open the season.
Oklahoma won the team championship, shooting a two 2-under for the tournament to best second-place Lamar by 10 strokes.
The Rebels went into the third round tied for second place, but shot a 309 in the cold, windy conditions Monday.
"We didn't play well, with the exception of Joe David," said head coach Ernest Ross. "Conditions were much tougher, and we lost confidence. It's like we don't trust our abilities. We had too many doubts-too much thinking instead of playing confidently. The wind and cold can cause players to second-guess themselves, and I think we were guilty of this. We are better players than this."
Freshmen Joe Lewis and Blake Morris missed top-20 finishes by just two and three strokes, respectively.
Ole Miss will return to action Oct. 28-30 for the Bridgestone Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C.-the final tournament of the Rebels' fall portion of the schedule.
