OXFORD, Miss. - After a seventh place finish at the David Toms Intercollegiate, the Ole Miss men's golf team looks to end the fall part of their schedule on a good note when they travel to compete in the Bridgestone Collegiate in Greensboro, N.C. Oct 28-30.
The tournament field consists of 15 teams, including four from the Southeastern Conference: Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina, and Kentucky.
The teams will compete on the par-72 Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro.
Joe David continues to lead the Rebels with a 70.50 stroke average. The senior has finished third in three of four tournaments to open the season and has only gone over-par in three of 12 rounds. David has 22 career top-20 finishes, including five in the top-five.
Senior Billy Brozovich has finished in the top-20 in two tournaments this year, including the Mason Rudolph Championship where he finished in third place.
Also making the trip will be freshman Joe Lewis and redshirt sophomores Tom Brown and Thomas Watkins.
Lewis has played in every tournament this fall, while Brown has played in three. Watkins will be playing in his second career tournament and first of the season.
"The fall season is important in many ways, but it also allows us the opportunity to try new players," said Ole Miss head coach Ernest Ross. "We want to see if some players are gamers. We want to find that person that seems to be ignited by competition and thrives in pressure situations. We think we ironed out a few problems this past week, and had a tough practice on Sunday in a cold rain. I am hoping this makes us tougher as players."
