OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss softball head coach Windy Thees announced the signing of Madi Osias, of Orange, Calif., to a national letter of intent on Monday. Osias will join the Rebel program beginning in the 2012-13 academic year.
A four-year starter at Orange Lutheran High School, Osias earned first team all-league honors after batting .432 with seven home runs, 30 RBI, a .830 slugging percentage and a .510 on-base percentage. She also earned second team all-county and team MVP honors after posting a 20-6 record in the circle with 163 K's in 161 innings. As a sophomore, she led her squad with a 1.24 ERA and earned Trinity League second-team honors.
"Madi is one of the top pitchers in her class and we are very excited she is coming to Ole Miss," said Thees. "She does a great job of moving the ball around the zone and switching speeds. She also is a great first baseman and hitter. Having a pitcher who is athletic as Madi is a huge plus."
She has been named to the Brea Olinda All-Tournament team twice, the Laguna Hills All-Tournament team and the Woodbridge All Tournament team, where she set record with 16 strikeouts in complete game shutout.
Osias was named an ESPN RISE Top 15 selection at Michelle Carew Classic, after she hit .643 batting, with three homers, eight RBI and pitched a complete game shutout. She has played for the California Cruisers club team for the past six years and won the 2010 2011 Louisville Slugger Tournament and earned a third-place finish at the 2010 ASA 16U Nationals.
The daughter of Bob and Francesca Osias, Madi is a three-time member of the honor roll and holds a 4.25 GPA. A member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Osias has volunteered over 60 hours of community service with her high school thrift store, restoring local gardens with classmates and working with mentally challenged students.
