Rebel Softball Adds Invergo

OXFORD, Miss. - Alyssa Invergo, of Peotone, Ill., has signed a national letter of intent to join the Ole Miss softball team beginning in the 2012-13 academic year, Rebel head coach Windy Thees announced on Tuesday.
Invergo comes to Oxford from Peotone High School where she earned first team Illinois Coaches Association All-State honors last year after hitting .602 with 65 hits, 57 runs, 52 RBIs, 12 home runs, 11 triples, nine doubles and 40 stolen bases. A three time All Area first-team selection by the Kankakee Daily Journal, Invergo was named the paper's Player of the Year last season and earned second team All-American honors.
"Alyssa is an all-around great athlete with a wonderful combination of speed, power and strength," said Thees. "I look forward to having her in our infield and at the top of our lineup."
She is a three time Interstate 8 All-Conference first-team pick and three time All-Area selection by the Herald News Joliet. A three-year starter, Invergo led her squad to the 2011 conference championship.
Invergo played for the New Lenox Lightning, Southern Force and Beverly Bandit club teams and advanced to the 18 Gold Premier National Championships. She also earned a third-place finish at the 2011 16U ASA National Tournament with the Force.
Involved in several community service activities, Invergo is a standout in the classroom. She is member of the National Honor Society, the National Foreign Language Club, is ranked third in her graduating class and was the 2011 Homecoming Queen at Peotone High.
