COLUMBIA, S.C. - Freshman Londen Ladner hit her second home run in as days, but Ole Miss fell 9-5 to the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday afternoon at Beckham Field.

The Rebels (9-17, 0-2 SEC) took an early lead in the top of the first after designated player Amanda Hutcheson singled to left to lead off the game and later scored from third on a wild pitch.

South Carolina 15-7, 2-2 SEC) took a 5-1 lead with five runs in the bottom of the third highlighted by a two-run double to center by leftfielder Kaitlin Westfall and a two-run single to right by second baseman Dana Hathorn.

Ladner answered back for Ole Miss in the top of the fourth with her second long ball in as many days. Her solo shot over the wall in left cut the Gamecock lead to 5-2. South Carolina extended its lead to 7-2 in the fourth with a pair of runs on a throwing error by Ole Miss pitcher Kendall Bruning and a bases-loaded walk.

The Rebels once again cut into the South Carolina lead in the fifth on an RBI single up the middle by junior Cali Overbeck. With the bases-loaded and one down in the fifth, Rebel second baseman Natalie Nimmo tapped a ground ball to Gamecock third baseman Evan Childs, who's throw sailed over catcher P.J. Fulmer's head and allowed two runs to score and cut the lead to 7-5.

South Carolina pitcher Julie Sarratt hit a two-run home run in the sixth that provided the final score of 9-5.
