Ole Miss Falls To No. 2 Florida

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss fell to No. 2 Florida 17-3 on Saturday at the Ole Miss Softball Complex. The Rebels and the Gators will conclude their three-game series tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Ole Miss Softball Complex. Ole Miss will also host a kid's clinic and autograph following tomorrow's game.
Florida took the lead with seven runs in the top of the first inning highlighted by a grand slam from Gator third baseman Kasey Fagan. First baseman Megan Bush added a three-run homer in the second and a two-run double to right center in the third that extended the Gator lead to 12-0. The Gators added five more runs in the fourth highlighted by a two-run double from left fielder Kelsey Bruder.
Ole Miss got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run double from designated player Brittany Barnhill, who later stole home for the Rebels' second run. Ole Miss added another run in the fourth on a dropped throw by Gator second baseman Aja Paculba that allowed pinch runner Mallory McNeal to score from third.
Barnhill started for the Rebels and suffered the loss after allowing five runs, all earned, on three hits. She walked two and struck out none. Kendall Bruning entered in relief and struck out seven in three innings. Hannah Roger picked up the win for the Gators after giving up no runs on one hits in three innings of work.
