OXFORD, Miss. - Senior Lindsey Perry allowed three runs in five innings of work and freshman Natalie Nimmo hit her second career home run to help Ole Miss to a 4-3 win over Arkansas on Wednesday at the Ole Miss Softball Complex. The Rebels dropped game two of the doubleheader 7-6 to the Razorbacks.

"It was a nice win in game one," said Ole Miss head coach Missy Dickerson. "We got some timely hits and Lindsey did a good job in the circle. In game two, we weren't able to do those things and it cost us. You can't wait until the seventh inning to try to catch up."

Nimmo gave the Rebels (11-22, 1-7 SEC) a 1-0 lead with a solo homer to start the bottom of the second inning. Cali Overbeck, Erinn Jayjohn and Amanda Hutcheson followed with three-straight singles to load the bases. An RBI fielder's choice by Kelly Nolan scored Ole Miss' second run and Razorback starting pitcher Kim Jones uncorked a wild pitch that put the Rebels up 3-0 after two.

Arkansas loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the third, but Perry entered in relief of starting pitcher Brittany Barnhill and retired the next three batters on a fly out, a strikeout and a fly out to end the threat.

Ole Miss added another run in the sixth on an infield RBI single from RT Cantillo. Arkansas responded with a three-run homer from second baseman Jennifer Rambo in the seventh, but Perry settled in and struck out designated player Amanda Caldwell to end the game. Perry struck out five in the win and allowed just three hits in relief.

Jayjohn and Hutcheson paced the Rebels with two hits each, while Cantillo, Nimmo and Nolan each drove in a run.

Next up, Ole Miss will travel to Auburn, Ala. for a three-game SEC series against the Tigers beginning Fri day.

Game Two

Ole Miss scored fours runs in the bottom of the seventh inning in a furious comeback attempt, but it was enough as Razorback centerfielder Becca Carden hit a pair of home runs to lift Arkansas over Ole Miss 7-6 in game two on Wednesday.

Carden's two-run homer to left center in the top of the third gave Arkansas a 2-0 lead and Rebel second baseman Cali Overbeck responded with an RBI double into left center in the bottom of the frame that cut into the Arkansas lead.

Arkansas added two runs in the fourth on a two-run single to left by pitcher Chelsea Cohen and one run in the fifth on an RBI groundout from second baseman Jennifer Rambo that put the Razorbacks up 5-1. Another two-run homer from Carden in the sixth extended the lead to 7-1.

RT Cantillo laced a double into left center in the sixth that plated Brittany Broome and cut into the Arkansas lead 7-2. Overbeck's two-run homer and pinch hitter Rachel Torres' bases-clearing double to center in the seventh provided the final score of 7-6. Overbeck lead the Rebels at the plate with two hits and three RBI, while Londen Lander recorded two hits and two walks.

Kendall Bruning suffered the loss after starting and allowing two runs on three hits with four Ks in 2.1 innings of work. Brittany Barnhill pitched 4.2 innings in relief and gave up five runs on seven hits while striking out five.
