OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss dropped the second game of a three-game set 4-0 to No. 23 LSU on Saturday afternoon at the Ole Miss Softball Complex. The Rebels also hosted "Kids Take Over The Ballpark Day" and accepted donations in support of Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis.
LSU grabbed a 1-0 lead in the third on a two-out, RBI double to left center by shortstop Juliana Santos. Second baseman Jacee Blades added to the Tiger lead in the fourth with an RBI infield single.
Ole Miss threatened in the fourth after Brittany Broome singled and RT Cantillo walked to give the Rebels runners on first and second with one out. Third baseman Londen Ladner then laced a single into left, but Tiger left fielder Ashley Langoni threw Broome out at home and Ladner was picked off at second trying to advance to end the inning.
Santos extended the Tiger lead in the fifth with another RBI double to left center and third baseman Tammy Wray added an RBI groundout later in the inning that put LSU up 4-0 after five.
Kendall Bruning started for Ole Miss and took the loss after allowing two runs, both earned, on five hits in four innings with two Ks. Lindsey Perry pitched the final three innings and gave up two runs on three hits with one strikeout.
The Rebels and the Tigers will conclude their three-game set tomorrow at the Ole Miss Softball Complex. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
