SEC Softball Tournament Field Set

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss will serve as host of the 2011 SEC Softball Tournament beginning on Thursday. The entire tournament will be televised live on the ESPN family of networks.  The first three quarterfinal games and the semifinals will air on ESPNU, while the fourth quarterfinal game will air on ESPN2, and the championship game will air primetime on ESPN at 7:00 p.m.   

This will mark the first time Ole Miss has hosted the eight-team, single-elimination tournament, which began in 1997. Arkansas served as host of last year's tournament, while Alabama claimed the championship. Over the past decade, Ole Miss has hosted SEC Championships in cross country, men's and women's tennis, soccer, track and field and women's golf.

Stadium-reserved chair-back ticket packages for the SEC Tournament will be $85, while reserved bleacher seats will be $60 for all three days. Ticket packages for the left field terrace will be $60 and admission to the right field bleachers will be $40. Coolers will only be permitted in the left field terrace area. Single game tickets are also available.

Among the renovations to the Ole Miss Softball Complex is an outfield terrace seating beyond the wall in left field that provides unique views of all the action, similar to the outfield seating at Ole Miss' baseball stadium, Swayze Field. Amenities include a grilling area, pavilion and a camera platform area in center field.

Other improvements include a new LED video and scoreboard that measures approximately 13 feet high by 23 feet wide. Bleacher seating has also been added in right field to accommodate the expected crowds for the SEC Tournament.

Alabama clinched its second consecutive, third overall, SEC title and is the tournament's No. 1 seed. Eastern Division champion Florida Gators the No. 2 seed after a come-from behind-weekend to sweep Tennessee and clinch its fourth Eastern Division title. The Gators will also make their 15th consecutive SEC tournament appearance. Mississippi State returns to the tournament for the first time since 2008.   

On Thursday, May 12, the No. 3 seed Tennessee Lady Vols (44-10, 20-8 SEC) will open up the tournament against No. 6 seed Kentucky (36-13, 14-9 SEC) at 11:00 a.m., followed by No. 2 seed Florida (47-8, 21-7 SEC) and No. 7 seed Auburn (37-16, 14-13 SEC) at 1:30 p.m. The evening session will feature No. 4 LSU (38-15, 19-9 SEC) vs. No. 5 Georgia (44-10, 17-9 SEC) at 4:00 p.m. and the No. 1 seed Alabama (45-7, 19-6 SEC) will take on No. 8 Mississippi State (24-31, 10-18 SEC) in the nightcap at 7:00 p.m.
