Rebel Golfers Make A Move At NCAA East Regional

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The Ole Miss women's golf team, led by a 4-under 68 from junior Natalie Gleadall, moved up the leader board to a tie for ninth in the second round of the NCAA East Regional Friday at LPGA International.
The Rebels took advantage of the early tee time, carded a 293 and then sat back and waited while the afternoon wave made their way around the Legends Course. When play concluded, the team had moved up six spots from their first round spot of 15th.
Gleadall posted her fifth round in the 60s this year - with five birdies ¬- to jump from a tie for 56 to a tie for ninth, just one back of the top five.
"Our goal today was to play to win, and they did just that," head coach Michele Drinkard said. "We played a lot more aggressive and when we missed greens we converted our pars. Natalie played great today; she really had the putter rolling." Junior Haley Millsap fired a 74, redshirt freshman Kathryn Fowler posted a 75 and junior Ashley Lance turned in a 76 to round out the Rebel scoring.
"It truly is a team effort to advance up the leader board, and we have put ourselves back into contention," Drinkard added. "We play to win, so tomorrow you will see more of the same from the Rebels."
The Rebels will tee off the final round beginning at 8 a.m. CT, hoping to land inside the top eight and earn a spot in the NCAA Championships in College Station, Texas May 18-21.
