Rebels Lead Sam Hall Intercollegiate After Two Rounds

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Led by senior Joe David, three Rebels turned in top-10 performances to stake Ole Miss to a two-stroke lead at the conclusion of the second round of play here Monday at the Sam H. Hall Intercollegiate.

The Rebels, seeking their first tournament win since 2010, find themselves two strokes ahead of second-place South Alabama with the third and final round taking place Tuesday.

Ole Miss equaled its fifth-lowest single round score in school history with an eight-under 276 in the first round. Senior Billy Brozovich led the Rebels in the first 18 holes, shooting a career-best 65 on the par-71 course at the Hattiesburg Country Club.

David was one of just three individuals to shoot in the 60's both rounds, notching a 68 and 69 in the first and second rounds, respectively. The Madison, Tenn. native finds himself in a three-way tie for third-four strokes behind leader Blake Kelley of South Alabama.

Freshman Blake Morris came up big for Ole Miss in his first collegiate tournament, racking up six birdies on the back-nine to finish at 66 in the second round and help the Rebels maintain their lead over South Alabama.

Morris is currently tied for 10th place individually, along with teammate Brozovich, who shot a 74 in the second round.

Freshman Joe Lewis also turned in a solid day, shooting a 70 and 73 in each round.

"We had some really good rounds today," said head coach Ernest Ross. "I was proud of our team. We started each round on the tougher side, so we had to be patient and hang close to par. We took advantage of the opportunities on the back nine each round. We had some notable highlights, including our freshman Blake Morris and our two seniors Billy Brozovich and Joe David. We have to keep it going tomorrow."

Competing as an individual, sophomore Tom Brown finished with a 71 and 72 for the day.

The Rebels will return to the links tomorrow for the final round. Fans can access live scoring at www.OleMissSports.com.
