No. 20 Rebels Host Arkansas State Tuesday Afternoon

THIS WEEK FOR OLE MISS:
Ole Miss returns home this week to host four games, starting with a midweek contest against the Red Wolves of Arkansas State on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. The Rebels will then play host to UNC-Wilmington for a three-game series that begins on Friday at 3:00 p.m. with Saturday's game set for a 3:00 p.m. start and Sunday's game set for a noon first pitch.

NEXT WEEK FOR THE REBELS:
Ole Miss will continue to play at home as part of a 12-game home stand at Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field. The Rebels will host Memphis on Tuesday at 3 p.m. in a mid-week contest before continuing to play at home with a three-game set against Miami (Ohio). The games against the Redhawks will be set for 6:30 p.m. on Friday, 12:30 p.m. on Saturday (to accomodate basketball) and 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.

NOTING SMITH: Freshman right-hander Sam Smith is slated to make his first start as a Rebel on Tuesday afternoon against the Arkansas State Red Wolves. Smith has one appearance on the season, entering the game in relief against No. 10 TCU in the season opener. Smith worked 1.1 innings of hitless ball and recorded a strikeout to help hold the Rebel lead on the way to the win. Smith entered the game at TCU to face All-American catcher Josh Elander in the seventh and got him out before retiring the side in order in the eighth.

A LOOK AT ARKANSAS STATE:
The Red Wolves of Arkansas State enter the Tuesday night contest with an overall record of 0-2 after dropping both games with Lamar this past weekend. by scores of 2-1 and 10-2. Drew Burks led the Red Wolves with a .333 average on the opening weekend, going 2-for-6 with a double and a walk. Cory Kyle, who will start for the Red Wolves on Tuesday, turned in 1.0 inning of work and allowed one run on one hit with a walk and a strikeout against Lamar.

OLE MISS VS. ARKANSAS STATE:
Ole Miss and Arkansas State have faced off 84 times in the history of the two programs with the Rebels holding a 64-20 lead in the all-time series.

LAST TIME OUT VS. ARKANSAS STATE:
Ole Miss and Arkansas State faced each other twice in the 2011 season with each team hosting a single game in the season series. Ole Miss won the first meeting between the two teams 4-3 in Oxford (2/23) before winning the second game 11-9 in Jonesboro (5/4).

HIT STREAKS ON THE LINE:
Four Rebels hold hit streaks of more than one game heading into the Tuesday night game against Arkansas State. Senior Matt Snyder holds an active hit streak of 10 games dating back to last season. Blake Newalu has hit safely in two straight games dating back to last season, while Auston Bousfield and Alex Yarbrough both hit safely in both games this season.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME:
The home field has been kind to the Rebels during Bianco's tenure as Ole Miss has posted a 283-108-1 record within the friendly confines of O-U Stadium/Swayze Field for a (.723 winning percentage) at home.

OLE MISS VS. NON-CONFERENCE FOES UNDER BIANCO:
Ole Miss has posted an impressive non-conference record over the course of the past nine seasons under head coach Mike Bianco. Since Bianco's arrival in Oxford in 2001, the Rebels have posted a 228-84-1 (.730 win percentage) mark in non-conference foes. Just a year ago, the Rebels were 17-8 in non-conference games, posting a .654 win percentage.
