OleMissSports.com is perhaps the most visible representation of Rebel Athletics, and in order to stay at the forefront of college athletics multimedia, the website is relaunching with a fresh and innovative new look. As you will see, the site has a much cleaner design and usability that will enhance the web experience for Ole Miss fans, alumni and recruits.
One of the objectives of the Athletics Department's multimedia content is to personalize Rebel student-athletes, and the site certainly reflects that. Stylized images of individual student-athletes are the centerpiece of the home page and the individual sport pages. The front page will rotate on refresh among athletes from all sports, while the sport pages highlights athletes from that sport.
While eliminating significant clutter, the enhanced navigation bar at the top will make for a more enjoyable user experience. Dropdown panels have been renamed, sorted and added items to give the user more content that is only one click away. Schedules, social media portals, rosters and more are also easily accessible through the new "sticky" menu bar, which stays at the top of the page as you scroll down.
The various Ole Miss social media outlets are more interwoven throughout the new site design, including feeds in the lower left of the home and sport pages for Ole Miss Sports Blog, facebook and twitter. Each sport's page and articles contain feeds from their own team's facebook page as well as a twitter feed that includes not only their official team account but also staff members from that sport.
Like any site redesign, some minor growing pains come with the territory, and please be patient as we move into this new, unique format.
UMAA Foundation
UMAAFoundation.com is adopting to a whole new look as well. The clean and simple style will provide a convenient vehicle for prospects to learn more about the organization and for members to stay abreast of the latest news surrounding the Forward Together campaign and various events.
Ole Miss Sports Blog
The Blog is also receiving a facelift. The content will remain the same, as Communications staff members share notes, articles, video, photos and other interesting content about Rebel Athletics while fans can provide feedback. However, the new design will be consistent with the rest of the site, and a feed of the blogposts will be more visible in the lower left of the home and sport pages.
