Rebels Set To Compete In The Hootie At Bulls Bay

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's golf team will take on their most challenging field of the season, as they travel to Awendaw, S.C., for the Hootie at Bulls Bay hosted by the College of Charleston March 25-27.
The tournament will take place at the Bulls Bay Golf Club, a par-72 course set against the Atlantic Ocean just outside of Charleston, S.C. The Rebels finished ninth in the event last year, as LSU took the tournament championship.
This year's 15-team field features four teams currently ranked in the top 25: No. 5 Auburn; No. 15 Texas A&M; No. 20 Virginia and No. 21 LSU. Also joining the field are SEC opponents South Carolina and Kentucky.
"We played better last week-- we showed some improvement," said Ole Miss head coach Ernest Ross. "We face the strongest field of the season this week in South Carolina. We need a total team effort."
Joe David leads the Rebels with a 71.10 stroke average, which ranks 32nd in the nation and fifth in the SEC. The Madison, Tenn., native earned his fifth top-10 finish of the year last week at the Chris Schenkel Invitational. His best finish of the season came in the Mason Rudolph Championship where he finished third.
Blake Morris is coming off of a career-best tournament at the Chris Schenkel. The freshman finished in seventh, firing a 207, and only bogeyed three holes in three days en route his first career top-20 finish. For the season, Morris is carrying a 73.39 stroke average.
Fellow freshman Joe Lewis is third on the team with a 73.85 stroke average. Lewis has earned one top-10 finish, taking ninth place at the Mason Rudolph.
Senior Billy Brozovich has a pair of top-10's in his final season as a Rebel, including a career-best third place finish to tie teammate David at the Mason Rudolph.
Sophomore Tom Brown rounds out the lineup with a 74.60 stroke average.
