David Leads Rebels On Day One At Bulls Bay

AWENDAW, S.C. - Joe David shot a 1-under 71 to lead the Ole Miss men's golf team to a score of 292 in the first day of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Sunday afternoon hosted by College of Charleston.
The Rebels finished the opening round in ninth place among a competitive 15-team field--seven strokes behind leaders No. 5 Auburn and Kentucky.
"We made too many mistakes and double bogeys on a course that is pretty generous off the tee," said Ole Miss head coach Ernest Ross. "I know we can do better. I know it is unrealistic to expect errors, but we need to minimize them."
David finds himself in an eight-way tie for 10th place in the individual standings after a solid opening round. The senior rolled in four birdies, while going over par on just two holes. He trails current leader Ji Soo Park of Virginia by two strokes.
Senior Billy Brozovich shot a 1-under in his final nine holes to card a 1-over 73 and remain within striking distance of the leader.
Freshmen Blake Morris and Joe Lewis each shot a 74 for the afternoon. Morris was steady for much of the 18, but was hurt by a double-bogey on the par-5 sixth hole. Lewis got off to a rocky start but rebounded to go 1-under in his final nine.
