Rebels Travel To Ridgeland For Instate Double Header

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss softball team will travel to Ridgeland, Miss. on Tuesday for a double header against a pair of instate foes at Freedom Ridge Park beginning at 3:30 p.m. The Rebels will take on Jackson State at 3:30 p.m. and Southern Miss in the nightcap at 6:00 p.m.
"We are very excited about playing down in Ridgeland in front of our Rebel fans in the Jackson area and showing what Ole Miss softball is all about," said Ole Miss head coach Windy Thees. "Jackson State and Southern Miss are both very good teams. I have faced Southern Miss a lot in Conference USA and Jackson State made the NCAA tournament last year, so we are looking forward to two quality games."
Ole Miss (13-14, 2-6 SEC) steps out of conference after hosting No. 11 Georgia in Oxford last week. Freshman Allison Brown led the Rebels at the plate versus the Bulldogs with four hits, including a home run, and three RBI. Brown currently leads the team with 28 RBI on the season, while sophomore Londen Ladner has smashed a team-best five homers. Senior Kendall Bruning continues to pace the Rebels in the circle with an 11-7 record, a 3.64 ERA and 82 strikeouts in 102.0 innings pitched.
Jackson State enters the midweek tilt with a 16-15 overall mark and are led at the plate by Amanda Vasquez, who boasts a .337 batting average, five homers and 25 RBI, while Breea Jamerson has posted a 9-5 mark with a 4.23 ERA in the circle. Southern Miss is 10-17 on the year with a 2-7 mark in C-USA play. Caroline Walker leads the Golden Eagles at the plate with a .385 batting average, while Courtney Ramos has turned in a 4-7 mark with a 3.58 ERA in the circle.
Ole Miss holds a 12-9 advantage in the all-time series against Southern Miss, including three-straight wins, and has won all four matchups in the series versus Jackson State.
