BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Four Ole Miss track and field athletes received postseason honors Tuesday by the Southeastern Conference based on results at the 2012 indoor league championships, which took place Feb. 24-26 in Lexington, Ky.
Leading the way was junior All-American Ricky Robertson, who was once again selected to the All-SEC first team in the high jump.
The Hernando, Miss., native captured his third straight SEC indoor high jump title at the SEC Championships and was recognized as the 2012 SEC Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year. He currently ranks fifth nationally in the high jump (7-4.5) and 15th in the triple jump (51-11) and will travel to Nampa, Idaho to compete in the NCAA Indoors this weekend.
Joining Robertson in Nampa will be fellow junior All-American Mike Granger, who was selected to the All-SEC second team in the 60 meters. Granger is coming off his best performance of the indoor season, finishing runner-up in the 60 meters at the conference championships, clocking a season-best time of 6.63.
The 60-meter hurdles proved to be a successful event for a pair of Rebel rookies.
Robert Semien was selected to the men's SEC All-Freshman team in the event, while Taryn Hartfield was chosen to the women's SEC All-Freshman team also in the event. Both were the top freshman finishers in the 60 meter hurdles at SECs.
