Ole Miss Falls At No. 6 Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Ole Miss offense couldn't get on track Saturday afternoon as the Rebels dropped the second game of the series 9-0 to No. 6 Tennessee at Lee Stadium. The Rebels and the Lady Vols will finish their three-game set tomorrow at noon.

Tennessee (43-9, 21-6 SEC) took a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the third on back-to-back sac flies from shortstop Madison Shippman and second baseman Lauren Gibson and a two-out, two-run homer to center by left fielder Melissa Davin. The Lady Vols extended their lead in the fourth with five runs highlighted by a three-run home run from Davin.

Junior Erinn Jayjohn (3-13) started for Ole Miss (17-31, 4-20 SEC) and took the loss after giving up four runs, all earned, on seven hits in 2.2 innings of work. Senior Kelly Chandler entered the game in relief in the third and worked one-plus inning allowing five runs on two hits. Freshman Lauren Lindsey entered the game in the fourth and recorded the final out.

Ole Miss and UT will conclude their three-game series tomorrow with the first pitch set for noon. The game will also be televised on Fox Sports South with Daker Baker and Cheri Kempf calling the action.
