From Coach Insell … On The Freshmen
Second-year head coach Matt Insell has quite a few freshman faces on the squad this season, six to be exact. Here coach Insell talks about each of his freshman.
Shandricka Sessom:
"Shandricka has the ability to be one of the elite wing players in the SEC. She 's the combination in elite athletic ability with advanced skills, which could allow her to become one of the best freshmen in the SEC."
A'Queen Hayes:
"There is no player that has a better work ethic than A'Queen. Her relentless effort and energy will be contagious for our team. Queen's versatility will give us the option to play her at multiple guard positions this season."
Toree Thompson:
"Toree is a very skilled and talented point guard who has the ability to score and create for her teammates. Her early development will be a key factor in the success of our team."
Kelsey Briggs:
"Kelsey brings to our team one of the more unique skill sets of any player. At 6'2" she has the size of a post player, but has the skill level of a guard, which will make her an extremely difficult matchup. Kelsey could be one of the elite offensive players in the SEC."
Kiara Golden:
"Kiara has worked very hard to develop physically this summer. She has a wide range of offensive skill that will allow her to play multiple guard positions."
Sarah Porter:
"Sarah brings a physical toughness to our perimeter and looks like she could be a defensive stopper, which every good team must have.
