Ole Miss Golf To Tee Off '14-15 Season

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss men's golf team opens its 2014-15 campaign under new head coach Chris Malloy Monday at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate hosted by Southern Miss.
The two-day, three-round event will take place at the par-71, 6,902-yard Hattiesburg Country Club. The Rebels will join a competitive 15-team field that includes the host Golden Eagles, UALR, Arkansas State, Jackson State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, Louisiana Tech, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Sam Houston State, South Alabama, Southeastern Louisiana, Tennessee Tech and UTSA.
"I'm extremely excited to get this tournament season started," Malloy said. "The guys have been working hard over the past two weeks to prepare for this event. This is the beginning of a new era here at Ole Miss men's golf, and I look for these guys to come out and win some tournaments early."
The Rebels' lineup will consist of juniors Forrest Gamble and Connor Davis, sophomore Ben Wolcott and seniors Joe Lewis and Blake Morris. Freshman Josh Seiple, who was ranked the top player in the state of Colorado coming out of high school, will compete as an individual.
Led by seniors Morris and Lewis, the Rebels will field more experience than last year's squad. The team has used the offseason to get stronger and better prepared for competition.
Morris, a native Waterbury, Connecticut, was the top Rebel finisher in eight of 11 tournaments last season and represented Ole Miss at the 2014 NCAA Auburn Regional. He notched four top-five finishes and claimed his first individual title at the Shoal Creek Invitational on Oct. 1.
