MEMPHIS, Tenn. - After an exciting five-set win against host Memphis Friday night, the Ole Miss Volleyball team came back Saturday and a posted 3-1 win against Arkansas State in the morning followed by a 3-1 win versus UT-Martin in the afternoon to capture the Memphis Invitational. The Rebels improved to 7-0 on the season for the first time since 2007.

The Rebels were paced by junior middle blocker Nakeyta Clair, who was named the tournament Most Valuable Player. Clair posted a career-best 20 kills in the afternoon match against UT-Martin, after 17 versus Arkansas State and 18 against Memphis on Friday. She hit .463 on the weekend and averaged 4.63 kills per set to earn her second consecutive MVP honor after picking up the honor at the Buffalo Classic.

Junior Ty Laporte and sophomore setter Aubrey Edie joined Clair on the All-Tournament Team. It's also the second straight week for Edie to earn All-Tournament honors.

"We are really proud of the team for winning our second straight tournament title," head coach Steven McRoberts said. "We had a few ups and downs today, dropping a set against both Arkansas State and UT-Martin. Both teams raised their level of play, and we didn't match it. We know what we need to work on in practice. We are really excited to be 7-0."

Against UT-Martin, Ole Miss held four set points up 24-20 in the first set, but the Sky Hawks battled back to tie it. The Rebels gained another set point at 25-24, but UT-Martin answered again. Finally on the sixth set point the ball sailed out on UT Martin's Emily Keaton to give the Rebels the 27-25 win.

In the second set, UT-Martin stayed with the Rebels early on, before Ole Miss went up 17-12, forcing the Sky Hawks to call timeout. The Rebels won eight of the next 10 points to take the set 25-14 and a 2-0 lead in the match.

Just as they did in the morning match, the Rebels dropped the third set to UT-Martin 25-20. But Ole Miss came back strong in the fourth set getting off to a fast start and never looking back on their way to a 25-14 win.

The Rebels return home to the friendly confines of the Gillom Sports Center for two consecutive weekends, beginning with the Magnolia Invitational Sept. 11-13. The team will kick off the tournament Thursday, Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. vs., UAB.
