Ole Miss Heads to Bayou to Face LSU

Ole Miss hits the road for its next contest traveling to Baton Rouge, La., to take on the LSU Tigers in a game televised on the SEC Network. Tipoff is set for 8 p.m. CT at the Pete Maravich Center with Pam Ward and Gail Gostenkors on the call.

Starting Five
1. Ole Miss dropped a heartbreaker to instate rival, Mississippi State, 64-62, on Thursday (Jan. 22). The loss dropped Ole Miss to 14-6, 4-3 SEC and was just its third loss in its last 11 games and was the first loss for the Rebels at home in SEC action.



2. Freshman point guard A'Queen Hayes posted her seventh game of double figures against Mississippi State with a team-best 12 points. Hayes has been in double figures in four of Ole Miss' last six games and has posted six games in double figures since moving into the starting lineup vs. South Alabama.



3. The Rebels are in the midst of a tough stretch. Ole Miss has faced ranked opponents in each of its last three games (Georgia, Texas A&M and Mississippi State) and will take on current No. 1-ranked South Carolina on Sunday in Oxford. Ole Miss is 1-4 against ranked foes this season.



4. Tia Faleru is approaching her 800th rebound and is just 62 rebounds shy of the milestone. Should she reach the milestone this season she will become one of seven players in program history with 1000 career points and 800 career rebounds and will become the first to do it since Armintie Price in 2006-07.



5. Ole Miss is in search of its second SEC road win on Thursday. Ole Miss snapped a 14-game consecutive road SEC losing streak with a win at Florida earlier this year. Ole Miss is looking for more than two road wins since the 2006-07 season. Over the last six seasons Ole Miss has a combined eight SEC road wins.



Ole Miss vs. LSU Notables
-This will be the 52nd meeting between Ole Miss and LSU with LSU owning a 30-21 series advantage. The Lady Tigers have won the last five meetings between the teams. Ole Miss is seeking its first win over LSU since a 102-101 triple overtime game in Baton Rouge in 2010.



-Ole Miss doesn't have any players from Louisiana although the Lady Tigers do have a player from nearby Memphis, Tenn., in junior Danielle Ballard.



-This will be the second consecutive season the Rebels and Tigers have met in a televised contest. Last season, LSU pulled away late for a 66-56 win in Oxford.



A Win Would...
-Move Ole Miss to 15-6, 5-3 SEC and snap LSU's five-game winning streak. It would also give Ole Miss its second SEC road win this season, the most since the 2010-11 season when they also had to road wins.



Rebels By The Numbers

Number of SEC road wins Ole Miss has this season. Ole Miss is looking for its second road win of the season against LSU. Ole Miss is seeking more than two SEC road wins for the first time since the 2006-07 season when they posted five SEC road victories.



8-Number of three-pointers from Gracie Frizzell against Alabama on Jan. 11. The Little Rock, Arkansas native set a new Ole Miss single-game record and Tad Smith record. Her eight triples are the most in the SEC this season.



11-Number of rebounds Tia Faleru had against Mississippi State. It was her second consecutive game with double-figure rebounds and her seventh time in the last nine games. Faleru leads the SEC in rebounding with 10.6 rebounds per game and is ranked 24th nationally.



14- Number of wins the Ole Miss team currently has. Ole Miss hasn't posted more than 12 wins since the 2009-10 season and is in search of its first winning record since going 17-15 in 2009-10. Ole Miss' last 20-win season was in 2006-07 when the Rebels went 24-11 and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight.



26-Number of points the Ole Miss bench scored against Mississippi State. The Rebel bench outscored the Mississippi State bench 26-16 with Grazie Frizzell leading the way with 10 points her third game in double figures in the last three games.



Scouting LSU
LSU enters Thursday's game with a 10-9, 4-3 SEC record after falling on the road to No. 5 Tennessee on Thursday (Jan. 22). Danielle Ballard who is averaging a team-best 14.4 points per game, despite just playing in five games this season, leads the Lady Tigers. DaShawn Harden who is netting 11.5 points per game and Raigyne Moncrief, who contributes 11.2 points per game, join her in double figures. Moncrief and Sheila Boykin are leading the rebounding efforts with 6.8 and 6.6 rebounds per game, respectively. In SEC action, Moncrief has upped her offensive production to 12.0 points per game. As a team, the Lady Tigers are averaging 63.8 points per game and grabbing 38.7 rebounds per game. The Tigers aren't hitting the glass as hard against SEC foes as their rebounding numbers fall to 34.0 rebounds per game.



About Ole Miss
Senior forward Tia Faleru continues to lead Ole Miss with 15.6 points per game and 10.6 rebounds per game. Faleru has scored in double figures in 18 of Ole Miss' 20 games and has grabbed eight or more rebounds in 18 of Ole Miss' 20 games, with and SEC-best eight double-doubles on the season. Faleru is the lone player in double figures, but Erika Sisk is nearing double figures with 9.8 points per game while Ole Miss has four players averaging 6.0 points or better. Danielle McCray and A'Queen Hayes are helping Faleru shoulder the rebounding load averaging 4.6 and 4.3 rebounds per game, respectively. In SEC action, the Rebel have two players averaging double figures with Faleru leading the way with 13.9 points, while Erika Sisk is averaging 11.1 points. A'Queen Hayes is also netting 8.9 points per game against SEC foes.



On Deck
Ole Miss will hit the hardwood on Sunday when they welcome top-ranked South Carolina to Tad Smith Coliseum. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. CT and will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU.
