OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's basketball team added to its family when head coach Matt Insell announced the signing of junior college transfer Brittany Jackson (Sebastian River, Fla./ASA College/Georgia Tech/Sebastian River HS). Jackson joins Victoria "Torri" Lewis (Olive Branch, Miss./Home School), Madinah Muhammad (Chicago, Ill./Whitney Young HS) and Jonell Williams (Palatka, Fla./Palatka HS) as players who will suit up for Ole Miss in 2015-16. Jackson will enroll in classes at Ole Miss for the spring semester and will be eligible for competition stating in 2015-16.

"I am very excited to have Brittany join the Ole Miss family," said Insell. "It is very rare to be able to add a player of Brittany's caliber and experience during the Christmas break. Her ability to score the basketball at the highest level and experience of playing in the ACC will be a huge benefit to our program."

Jackson began her collegiate career at Georgia Tech in 2012-13 where she was an All-ACC freshman selection. The Sebastian River, Florida native was second on the Yellow Jackets team in scoring with 10.2 points per game. A prolific three-point shooter, Jackson connected on 39 three-pointers and ranked 10th in the ACC from behind the arc, drilling 1.7 three-pointers per game and was 10th in three-point field goal percentage (.358).

"Brittany is a very explosive physical scoring point guard that has long range shooting ability plus the strength to finish with contact at the rim. Anytime you can add a player that has averaged double figures in a league like the ACC with her skill set is a major plus for Ole Miss Basketball."

Jackson was a two-time ACC Rookie of the Week honoree, and tallied 20 or more points in five games at Georgia Tech, including a season-high 23 points effort at Miami. She had seven games with at least three three-pointers made, including knocking down a season-high five shots from three-point range in contests with Marquette, Virginia and Miami.

Jackson spent the 2014-15 season at ASA College in Brooklyn, New York where she started In 21 games averaging 21.9 points per game while shooting 47.9 percent from the floor and 34.2 percent from long range. She grabbed 7.0 rebounds per game and dished out 2.6 assists per game. She concluded the year as a NJCAA First Team All-American and earned National Junior College Player of the Week by setting a ASA scoring record with 35 points against Brookdale Community College.

Ole Miss is back on the hardwood on Sunday when it travels to Lexington, Kentucky, to take on the 11th-ranked Wildcats. Game time is set for 1 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on SEC Network.
