OXFORD, Miss. - Former Ole Miss golfers Jesse Speirs and Jonathan Randolph each earned tour cards for the Web.com Tour at the PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida last week.
Speirs earned his full-time slot on the Web.com Tour after finishing in a tie for 14th, firing a four-day total of five-under par 281.
The Bangor, Maine native carded a pair of 4-under 68's on the first two days on the Fazio course. On the third day, he posted an even-par 71 on the Champions course and fired a 3-over 74 on the final day to become a full-time Web.com Tour player.
Former Ole Miss All-American Jonathan Randolph lost his Web.com Tour card after an injury last summer, but fired a four-day total of four-under 282 to finish in a tie for 21st and regain his tour card.
The Brandon, Mississippi native posted a 3-over 74 on the Champions course in the first round, but bounced back in rounds two and three, carding scores of 5-under 67 and 4-under 68 on the Fazio course. Randolph would wrap up the tournament on the Champions course with a 2-over 73 on the final day to earn his card.
The Web.com Tour begins the end of January, and the first five tournaments will be in South America. This past season, 122 golfers played in at least 15 of the tour's 21 tournaments. The top 25 money-winners, including the regular season tournaments and four Finals tournaments, will earn their PGA Tour cards as will the top 25 finishers in the four Finals Tournaments who hadn't already earned a PGA Tour card.
