Where Are They Now: Jennifer Gillom

This summer the Ole Miss women's basketball team will be taking a look at some of the noticeable names from seasons past and seeing what they're up to now. Today we'll check in on one of Ole Miss' greats and current assistant coach of the WNBA's Connecticut Sun, Jennifer Gillom.

Jennifer Gillom, younger sister of Peggie Gillom-Granderson and the pride of Abbeville, Miss., has made a living playing and coaching the game of basketball. A 2009 inductee into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, Gillom has served two stints as a WNBA head coach and is currently an assistant coach with the WNBA's Connecticut Sun.

Gillom, who hails from nearby Abbeville, Miss., has her name etched all over the Ole Miss record books and her 2,186 career points ranks her second all-time on Ole Miss' scoring list and makes her one of just three players in program history with 2,000 career points joining her sister, all-time leading scorer. Peggie and current WNBA star, Armintie Herrington.

A member of the Ole Miss women's basketball team from 1983-87 and two-time team captain, Gillom led the Rebels to four NCAA Tournament appearances including an Elite Eight appearance in 1984-85.

Gillom owns the single-game Ole Miss record for rebounds at Tad Smith Coliseum with 20 rebounds against Vanderbilt in 1983 and ranks fifth for most points in a game with 38 points against Tennessee during the 1985-96 season. She still holds the single-season record for points scored (742) and single-season scoring average (23.2) during the 1985-86 season.

Gillom continued her playing career after her graduation from Ole Miss and was the fist Ole Miss player to reach the WNBA playing for the Los Angeles Sparks earning first team All-WNBA honors in 1999. She was named a WNBA All-Star in 2000. Gillom made the move from player to coach and has served as the head coach of the Los Angeles Sparks and the Minnesota Lynx. She is now currently as assistant with the Connecticut Sun.

She's also no stranger to USA Basketball and earned a gold medal in 2004 with Team USA and another during the 2012 Olympics as an assistant coach.

Gillom's Connecticut Sun squad is currently atop the Eastern Division standings with a 6-1 record and have won their last six games entering a June 26 matchup with the Los Angeles Sparks.
