Robinson and Stokes Named Top Summer Prospects

DURHAM, N.C. - Following a strong summer season, Ole Miss Baseball shortstop Errol Robinson and right-handed pitcher Will Stokes were named top summer prospects by Baseball America. Robinson was listed at the No. 9 player and top shortstop out of the prestigious, highly-talented Cape Cod Baseball League, while Stokes was the No. 3 player in the Cal Ripken League.
The pair of Rebels helped the SEC lead all conferences with 37 players on the combined list of 17 summer leagues. According to Baseball America, teams that place the most players on the summer league list tend to have successful seasons the following year.
Robinson had one of the best summers in the competitive Cape Cod Baseball League, hitting at a .312 clip to earn a nod into the league's all-star game. The shortstop recorded a team-high 44 hits during the season to lead the Hyannis Harbor Hawks to the CCBL Championship Series. He also paced the team with 25 runs scored as well as 15 stolen bases, which was the second-most in the entire league.
Stokes' solid summer earned him a Cal Ripken Collegiate League All-Star nod alongside his teammate Perkins. He also was a major factor in the Baltimore Redbirds claiming the league title. During the league championship series, Stokes pitched five scoreless innings over three games; he allowed just two hits and struck out seven, while picking up a save. For the season, Stokes was 1-0 with a 1.77 ERA in 16 appearances. Possibly his most impressive stat was his 9.5 strikeout-to-walk ratio. In 35.2 innings, Stokes recorded 38 strikeouts and issued just four walks.
