Rebels Welcome Mississippi College For Exhibition

The Rebels will play their lone tune-up before kicking off the season on Friday at 7 pm when they welcome Mississippi College to The Pavilion at Ole Miss. The game is FREE and open to the public. Season tickets are also available for $50 and can be purchased at the Ole Miss Ticket office or online HERE.

1. Fans can get their first glimpse of the 2016-17 Rebels when they take on Mississippi College on Friday at a free exhibition game. The regular season opens on Friday, Nov. 11 when they Rebels host Southeastern Louisiana. Tipoff is set for 2:30 pm at The Pavilion at Ole Miss.
2. Friday's exhibition game marks the first time Ole Miss fans will see several players in Ole Miss uniforms. True freshman Shelby Gibson (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), Bree Glover (Glasgow, Ky.) and Kate Rodgers (Birmingham, Ala.) additionally graduate transfer Taylor Manuel (St. Louis, Mo.) will also make her debut.
3. Friday's game marks the 28th meeting between Ole Miss and Mississippi College but the first since the 1989 season. This will also be the first time that Ole Miss will face the Lady Choctaws in the Insell era, as the past three seasons Ole Miss has faced off with Christian Brothers in exhibition action.
4. The 2016-17 season marks the first full season in The Pavilion at Ole Miss for the Ole Miss women's basketball team. The Rebels moved into their new home in January of 2016 and played their first game Jan. 10, 2016 vs. Florida.
5. Oxford native Erika Sisk enters her senior year just 64 points away from 1,000 career points. She will become the second player to achieve the milestone under head coach Matt Insell and staff and will become the 27th player in program history to top 1,000 career points.
Ole Miss vs. Mississippi College Notables
-This will be the first meeting between Ole Miss and the Lady Choctaws since the 1989 season and this will be the first time Ole Miss has played an exhibition against a team other than Christian Brothers in exhibition action in the Insell era.
-Mississippi College is the lone Division II team the Rebels will face in 2016-17; while Ole Miss is one of two Division I schools the Lady Choctaws will take on in exhibition action. Mississippi College will also take on Southern Miss on Nov. 8 in Hattiesburg.
-Mississippi College is in its first year as an active NCAA Division 2 member beginning the transition in 2013-14. The Choctaws are members of the Gulf South Conference. Ole Miss assistant coach Brittany Hudson played in the Gulf South Conference at Valdosta State.

-Give Ole Miss and head coach Matt Insell an exhibition win for the fourth consecutive season.
Rebels By The Numbers
4- Number of seniors on the Ole Miss roster. Last year Ole Miss was without a senior and this year have a quartet in Bretta Hart, Shequila Joseph, Erika Sisk and Taylor Manuel.
5 - Number of new faces on the Ole Miss roster. This group includes three freshmen in Shelby Gibson, Bree Glover and Kate Rodgers. Additionally, transfers Taylor Manuel and Chrishae Rowe will be new faces. Manuel is immediately eligible to play as a graduate transfer while Rowe will be eligible in mid-December.
6- Number of wins Ole Miss needs to reach 800 program victories. Currently Ole Miss' all-time record is 974-493. Ole Miss' first chance to reach 800 wins will be in the second game of the UNLV Thanksgiving tournament on Nov. 27.
9-Number of wins head coach Matt Insell needs to earn his 50th career win. Insell is 41-54 in three years as leader of the Ole Miss women's basketball team.
64- Number of points Erika Sisk needs to hit the 1,000-point milestone. The Oxford native has scored over 300 points in each of her two collegiate seasons and seems poised to become Ole Miss' 27th 1,000- point scorer in school history.
Scouting Mississippi College
Mississippi College plays in Division II and is a member of the Gulf South Conference. The Lady Choctaws were 5-20 last season and 3-19 against Gulf South foes. Chloe Roberts returns as the leading scorer after averaging 12.0 ppg last season but Mississippi College will be replacing two of their top three scorers from a year ago but will be retuning top rebounder Tori Woods who averaged 7.0 rebounds per game.
About Ole Miss
Ole Miss opens the 2016-17 with lots of optimism. The Rebels return 83.5 percent of their scoring lead by Shandricka Sessom who led Ole Miss with 15.6 points per game a season ago. Additionally top rebounder Bretta Hart is back for her senior campaign. Hart led the Rebels with 5.7 rebounds per game and posted two of the top three rebounding performances in the SEC with 19 rebounds against U-Lafayette and 18 against Western Kentucky. As a team, Ole Miss returns 62.5percent of its rebounding from a year ago. The Rebels will have three true freshmen join the team in Shelby Gibson (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), Bree Glover (Glasgow, Ky.) and Kate Rodgers (Birmingham, Ala.) while graduate transfer Taylor Manuel (St. Louis, Mo) and transfer Chrishae Rowe (Riverside, Calif.) will also join the team.
