Rebels To Watch For
Seniors Abby Newton (Katy, Texas) and Alison Hovatter (Meridianville, Ala.) are in the lineup for the final Rebel Intercollegiate of their Ole Miss career. They look to finish at the top of the leaderboard to build momentum before the SEC Women's Golf Championship in two weeks.
Familiar Faces On The Course
Ole Miss welcomes four teams to the Rebel Intercollegiate that they have met already this spring. East Tennessee, Memphis, Samford and Tulsa have all been in fields with Ole Miss earlier in the season. Additionally, Murray State is in the field and joins Memphis as the only teams who have participated in every Rebel Intercollegiate.
Familiar Faces Part Deux
Former Ole Miss Rebel Rachel Ingram (2006-09) is back at Ole Miss, this time with her own team, the Samford Bulldogs. Ingram is in her third season at Samford and will participating in the Rebel Intercollegiate as a coach for the second consecutive season.
Head Coach Kory Henkes Quoted
On hosting the 2016 event…
"It's always nice to have a home event. We have families coming from all over the world to watch the girls play so there will be a little bit of a comfort factor. We're looking forward to this weekend, and we have a lot of good teams competing. We're hoping to have a really good week."
On the lineup…
"We have Abby (Newton) and Ali (Hovatter) in the lineup so we are looking for a good finish from them. We have Madisen (Bentley) who's been consistent for us all year and Laura (Hoskin) and Maria (Toennessen) who have made a strong push for us towards the end of the semester to work their way into the lineup. I feel great with who we have in the lineup, as well as the girls who are playing in individual spots. Any of them have a great chance since it's their home course."
On the course conditions…
"We had about three inches of rain last night, so we're lucky to get a practice round in but we may have to some adjustments before tomorrow. We'll get it in. The weekend is going to be nice so we'll be in good shape."
