Rebels Fall to Tennessee on the Road

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Ole Miss rallied to win the first set at Tennessee Friday, but the Lady Vols rebounded to take the match 3-1 (20-25, 25-15, 25-10, 25-19) at Thompson Boling Arena.
Tennessee went on a run to break open set one and lead it 14-8 as Ole Miss called timeout. Following the timeout, the Rebels answered with a 6-0 run to tie it at 14-14. Tennessee led 17-16 and then the Rebels went on an 8-0 run to grab a 24-17 lead. Tennessee won three consecutive points, before Kate Gibson sent one to the corner to hand Ole Miss the set 25-20. The Rebels hit .310 in the set compared to .196 for Tennessee.
After seeing the Rebels go on a big run to close out set one, it was Tennessee who opened the second set with a big lead, 12-3. They led 15-7, before the Rebels pulled to within five, 15-10. The Lady Vols went back up 18-10 and Ole Miss used its final timeout. Tennessee never relinquished control helped out by nine errors from the Rebels, who hit -.108 in the set.
Tennessee raced out to a 6-1 lead in set three and the Rebels called their first timeout. They increased their lead to 14-5 as Ole Miss called its final timeout. Tennessee never lost control as they won the set 25-10 to take a 2-1 lead in the match. The Rebels hit just -.129 while the Lady Vols hit .478.
The Rebels grabbed the early lead 10-7 lead in set four, but Tennessee went on an 8-3 run to take a 15-13 advantage at the media timeout. They led 19-15 as Ole Miss called its first timeout. The Lady Vols never let up going on to take the set 25-19 to close out the Rebels 3-1.
