Rebels shoot final round 6-over 294
SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. – The Ole Miss women's golf team wrapped up play at the Cardinal Cup this afternoon, shooting a final round 6-over 294 to finish sixth.
"We've played a lot of golf in the last few weeks, so the first thing we have to do is go home and take a few days off and get a refresher," said assistant coach Drew Belt.
"Once we start practice again the main focus will be improving the girls short game. We surrendered way too many strokes this week on the greens and that has to be a major focus of improvement."
Julia Johnson notched her second top-10 finish of the fall after a final round 1-under 71. The sophomore led the team in pars with 35, including 13 on the final day.
Pi-Lillebi Hermansson had the second-best round of the day for the Rebels, shooting a final round even-par 72. Hermansson was second on the team in birdies with nine.
Martina Flori shot a career-best 7-under 65 to finish runner-up for the tournament. Flori, competing as an individual, led the tournament with 12 birdies.
Ole Miss returns to the course this coming weekend for the Jim West Challenge (Oct. 28-29) in San Marcos, Texas.
