Hayley Carroll Powers Ole Miss Rifle to a 4647

OXFORD, Miss. – Junior Hayley Carroll posted career highs in smallbore and aggregate to help the No. 12 ranked Ole Miss rifle team tally 4647 points (2292 smallbore, 2355 air rifle) against No. 1 Kentucky, Saturday at the Ole Miss Rifle Range. Kentucky, the defending NCAA Rifle Champion, earned 4694 points (2329 smallbore, 2365 air rifle) and secured the top two spots overall.

The junior from Fairfax, Virginia finished fourth in the opening event with a personal best 581. Kentucky's Will Shaner and Hailee Sigmon tallied marks of 584 for a share of first place. Carroll used a personal best in standing (190) and a career-tying mark in kneeling (194) to record her score.
Prone to do damage…
Freshman Jillian Zakrzeski recorded her first ever perfect prone 200, helping her receive a 576 in smallbore. She tied her season high and became the third Rebel to reach 200 in prone this season. Another freshman, Erin Walsh, notched a 199 in prone en route to a 572. Junior Alana Kelly recorded a season high in the event (575) and tied her career-best aggregate score (1160) as well. Ole Miss' counters were Randi Loudin (578), Zakrzeski (576), Abby Buesseler (571), and Harley Gardner (567).

Zakrzeski used a 591 to finish third in air rifle, while Carroll tallied 590 points for fourth. Shaner (596) and Ruby Gomes (594) of Kentucky went 1-2. Carroll improved her all-time aggregate total to 1171 and finished third overall behind the Wildcats' Shaner (1180) and Cathryn Papasodora (1172). Walsh registered her highest total ever for air rifle (587). Additionally, sophomore Sophia Cuozzo garnered 585 points for a season best, while Loudin earned a 2018-19 aggregate best of 1164. Tallying points in the event were Zakrzeski (591), Carroll (590), Kamilla Kisch (588), and Buesseler (586).
