OXFORD, Miss. -- Winston Churchill said "Never, never, never, never give up." The Ole Miss men's tennis team didn't give up when adversity hit them at the beginning of the SEC season, and battled their way to a year-end Oracle/ITA Ranking of No. 24, while six Rebels earned final singles and doubles rankings.
Ole Miss is one of nine SEC teams to finish among the top 25 after knocking off Duke and then-No. 4 Stanford to reach the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the 17th time in program history and first since 2012.
The Rebels earned their 24th top 25 ranking in program history and first since 2015.
Sophomore Tim Sandkaulen earned a final ranking of No. 29 in singles. Sandkaulen posted an overall record of 24-13 and 15-9 in dual matches. He went 8-3 at No. 2 singles and 7-6 at No. 1 and earned All-SEC First Team honors.
Senior Gustav Hansson ended his career ranked No. 72 in singles. He started the year in the top 20, but missed two months of the season due to injury. Still, Hansson earned All-SEC honors and became the fourth player to accomplish the feat all four years of his career.
Junior Filip Kraljevic finished the year ranked No. 92 and came up with some big wins down the stretch to help the Rebels not only qualify for their 25th straight NCAA Tournament, but advance to the Sweet Sixteen.
The Rebels landed three teams in the final doubles rankings led by NCAA participants Sandkaulen and Fabian Fallert, who finished No. 23. Sandkaulen also earned a No. 36 ranking with Grey Hamilton.
Kraljevic teamed with Senior Zvonimir Babic for a final ranking of No. 39 in doubles.
