Solid Start for Rebels Under the Lights at Twilight Classic

Robinson Snider (8th) and Anna Elkin (14th) Led for the Rebels
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Ole Miss men's and women's cross country opened the 2018 season with a solid outing at the Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic under the lights at Christian Brothers University on Saturday night.
The Rebel women finished fifth overall in the 5K team standings with just five runners, three of whom finished within the top-25 individually. Redshirt sophomore Anna Elkin led the way, finishing 14th at a 5K time of 18:36.46 after running with the top pack for most of the race. Sophomore Emma McClellan (19th, 18:45.32) and junior Chelsea Drum (22nd, 18:55.69) followed in the top-25, while senior Julia England (50th, 19:37.97) and sophomore Lexi King (58th, 19:55.44) both finished within the top-60 of 182 total runners.
Redshirt sophomore Robinson Snider was the top finisher for the Rebel men in the four-mile race, finishing eighth at 20:30.03 after vying for the lead for much of the contest. Snider was followed by redshirt freshman John Rivera Jr. (25th, 21:02.75) and freshman Baylor Franklin (53rd, 21:45.01) in the top-60 finishers to help Ole Miss to a 10th-place finish.
Ole Miss hits the road again next week for a key first look at the SEC Championship course at Auburn for the SEC Preview on Sept. 7 at 8:30 a.m. CT.
