Rebel Rifle Posts 4645 in Season Opener

OXFORD, Miss. – No. 13 Jacksonville State edged No. 9 Ole Miss rifle, 4666-4645, Saturday at the Ole Miss Rifle Range, opening the 2018-19 season. Junior Hayley Carroll posted a career best in air rifle (592), while freshman Jillian Zakrzeski led the Rebels with an overall score of 1163.
Cuozzo posts perfect prone score in smallbore…
Sophomore Sophia Cuozzo tallied her first perfect 200 in prone competition to go help her earn a 572. Sophomore Abby Buesseler and senior Randi Loudin tied for the best score in the event (576). Zakrzeski tied her career best 573 points, with personal bests in kneeling (189) and prone (199), as a non-counter. Jacksonville state tallied the top three smallbore scores (585, 583, 582).
Carroll, Zakrzeski shine in air rifle…
Carroll fired a personal record 592 to lead all shooters, as a non-counter. Leading Ole Miss' scorers in second was Zakrzeski with a 590. Sophomore Kamilla Kisch (588), Buesseler (586), and senior Harley Gardner (583) all eclipsed 580 points.

"I am always happy to see personal bests. It was great to see Hayley Carroll put up a 592 in air rifle. Zakrzeski did very well in her first match representing Ole Miss. Last spring, she enlisted in the National Guard and spent all summer at Army Basic. We didn't really know what to expect since she wasn't able to train all summer. Surprisingly, her 1163 aggregate for smallbore and air led Ole Miss today."
On opening the season…
"Competition gives us a good picture of how we are progressing. I was very happy to begin our season today. I saw a lot of positive things we can build upon and we will be working to improve in our next match."
