ORLANDO, Fla. --
After facing off against the Longhorns in tournament action last weekend, Ole Miss Men's Tennis will get the chance to 'make it official', taking on No. 8 Texas as part of the USTA National Campus Collegiate Series, held on site in Orlando.

The Collegiate Series is in its second year, and showcases some of the premier schools in the nation at the Collegiate Center, as 18 men's squads will take to the courts throughout the season, kick started by the Rebels and the Longhorns.

The two squads are familiar with one another after taking on each other in singles play during the opening day of the Miami Invite. Rookie Karlo Kranic emerged as the lone victor, taking down senior Johnny Goodwin 7-5, 6-2.

The teams also faced in doubles play on the second day of the invitational, where fellow freshmen Jan Soren Hain and Simon Junk defeated the senior duo of Harrison Scott/Rodrigo Banzer in a narrow 8-6 decision.

Also looking to contribute are veterans Fabian Fallert, Filip Kraljevic, and Tim Sandkaulen, who all boasts NCAA Tournament experience and carried a national ranking during the 2018 fall campaign.

SCOUTING THE LONGHORNS
In addition to boasting a Top 10 team ranking, Texas also carries five individually ranked players, led by junior Christian Sigsgaard's No. 4 in singles. Joining him in singles in classmate Yuya Ito at 18 and freshman Chih Chi Huang at 103. Sigsgaard also ranks in doubles, teaming up with Scott for a No. 33 plaudit.

The Longhorns could throw a curveball and pair Scott with fellow veteran Colin Markes, as the duo also boasts an ITA ranking, showing up at 59.

Texas wrapped up its 2018 spring season at 19-7, joining the Rebels as a fellow NCAA Sweet Sixteen team. The Longhorns fell to SEC foe Mississippi State 4-1.

AT THE NET WITH… ASSISTANT COACH DEVIN BRITTON
"I am so ready to see the guys get after it as a team. With four new faces this year, it brings some added excitement going into the dual match season. I am really looking forward to our upperclassmen leading the way and helping guide the younger guys in the right direction."

"We hit the ground running opening up with a tough Texas team at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, so there isn't a whole lot of tie to be wasted. We have to give a great effort from start to finish this spring, and if we can do that, I believe it will be another fun year for us."

UP NEXT
The Rebels return to Oxford for their home opener, welcoming North Alabama for a doubleheader of dual matches Saturday, Jan. 19, beginning at 2 p.m.
