Janeah Stewart Wins USA Indoor Weight Throw Title

Stewart is the 10th Rebel to Ever Win a USA Title Indoors
NEW YORK – Former Rebel and NCAA Champion Janeah Stewart has claimed the first national title of her professional career, winning the women's weight throw at the USATF Indoor Championships on Friday afternoon.
Stewart, a 10-time All-American and the reigning NCAA hammer throw champion, came within an inch of her career best, winning by a foot at 24.80m (81-04.50) on her fourth attempt. Stewart is the 10th Rebel to ever win an indoor gold medal at the USA Championships, the first to ever do so in the weight throw. Her personal best of 24.82m (81-05.25) from Feb. 8 is the top throw in the United States this year, making her the third-best in the weight in world history at the 10th-best throw.
Ole Miss volunteer coach Jeneva Stevens finished fifth in the weight throw today as well, topping out at 22.89m (75-01.75).
