Sarut Vongchaisit Named SEC Freshman of the Week

Freshman Honored For Second Time in as Many Weeks
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Sarut Vongchaisit has been named SEC Freshman of the Week for the second time in as many weeks after his performance at the Lamkin San Diego Classic, the conference office announced Wednesday afternoon.
The freshman made his third appearance in the lineup in San Diego and put together a top-20 performance in a strong field at San Diego Country featuring seven top-50 teams.
Vongchaisit posted a personal-best finish, tying for 20th with a 3-over 219 (72-75-72) all while finishing above four golfers ranked in Golfstat's top-100 player rankings.
The Bangkok, Thailand, native recorded 11 birdies over 54 holes, five coming in the second round, and was one stroke away from tying his career-low 54-hole total as a Rebel.
Vongchaisit and the Rebels return to the course on Sunday, March 24 for the Hootie at Bulls Bay in Charleston, South Carolina.
