Rain Washes Away Series Finale Between Ole Miss and South Carolina

3/25/2019 | Softball

Game Cancelled with Ole Miss leading 2-0 Heading Into the Top of the Fifth

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Due to inclement weather in the Columbia area, Monday's series finale between Ole Miss and South Carolina was halted and eventually cancelled. No makeup date will be scheduled and the stats from the game will not count.

Ole Miss was leading 2-0 heading into the fifth inning behind a two-run home run off the bat of Brittany Finney when rain began to come down at the Carolina Softball Stadium.

Although the weather subsided, the game was cancelled per SEC rules because the fifth inning was not able to be resumed by 9 p.m. ET. A game must reach five complete innings before it can be considered a completed contest.

Ole Miss will return home to Oxford with a 3-2 SEC record and prepare for a three-game series with Florida. The Rebels and Gators will meet up Friday through Sunday at the Ole Miss Softball Complex.
