Women’s Tennis Drops Heartbreaker at No. 26 Kentucky

Rebels fall 4-3 in Lexington
LEXINGTON, Ky. – Ole Miss Women's Tennis dropped a heartbreaker Friday, falling in a 4-3 effort to No. 26 Kentucky at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Center.
Knotted at 3-3, it all came down to a third-set decision at first singles, where sophomore Sabina Machalova fought valiantly, triumphing 7-6 in the opener before dropping her final two sets.
The Rebel wins came by way of senior Tea Jandric, junior Tereza Janatova, and a pair of doubles victories.
Machalova partnered with junior Alexa Bortles to pick up a 7-6 win at first doubles, and the doubles point was clinched with Jandric and junior Anna Verbenska cruising at second doubles, 6-1.
Janatova's 6-3, 7-6 win marked her fifth consecutive win, while Jandric's was the sixth straight and her 12th in her last 13 completed sessions.
The loss for Vrbenska was just her third SEC defeat in three seasons at Ole Miss.
