Ole Miss Earns Record 15 All-Academic Honors, Women’s Team Award From USTFCCCA

Rebel Women Earn Second Team Honor in Program History

NEW ORLEANS – Ole Miss track & field broke a program record for most USTFCCCA All-Academic honorees with 15 earning the distinction, while the Rebel women's team earned the team honor for just the second time in program history after the USTFCCCA released the yearly awards on Monday.
 
A total of 1,485 Division I student-athletes earned the distinction, with 902 women's recipients and 583 men's honorees. To be eligible, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and completed at least one of the following two accomplishments during the 2019 season: either finish the indoor season ranked in the top-96 in an individual event (or top-48 in a relay event); or, compete at any round of the NCAA Outdoor Championships (including the East and West preliminary rounds).
 
A record 11 Rebel women earned the honor, among them: Chelsea Drum (3.81, Mathematics), Jayda Eckford (3.51, Law Studies), Anna Elkin (3.86, Psychology), Alex Enright (3.48, Managerial Finance), Maddie King (3.96, Economics), Clio Ozanne-Jaques (3.60, Exercise Science), Kelly Rowe (3.58, Freshman Studies), Kaira Simmons (4.00, Criminal Justice), Victoria Simmons (3.45, Biological Science), Shey Taiwo (3.40, Political Science) and Lisa Vogelgesang (3.62, Psychology).
 
Four Rebel men earned All-Academic distinction as well: Michael Coccia (3.32, Managerial Finance), Mario Garcia Romo (3.69, Chemistry), Derek Gutierrez (3.44, Master's of Business Administration) and Andrew Raspo (3.79, Managerial Finance).
 
The Rebel women earned the team honor for just the second time in school history, the first since the 2017 season. Ole Miss was one of 366 schools honored nationally, and was one of 227 women's programs named in the NCAA. Its 3.45 team GPA ranks tied for second among all SEC women's schools honored.
