Ole Miss Cross Country Begins Season at Memphis Twilight

Competition Begins Saturday at 9:20 p.m. CT
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Ole Miss men's and women's cross country opens its 2019 season with a short trip to the Memphis Twilight on Saturday night at Christian Brothers University.
The Rebels will send two small groups to Memphis to begin the 2019 season. The Rebel men will be represented by Jack Filan, Baylor Franklin, Tyler Moore, Robinson Snider and Jamie Witmer, while the women's lineup will feature Courtney Hopkins, Emma McClellan, Maddie McHugh, Morgan Claire Rose and Cate Tracht.
Ole Miss opens the season at No. 14 in the USTFCCCA Men's Preseason National Rankings while the Rebel women are ranked 15th in the nation. At the conference level, the Rebel men were selected as the No. 1 team in the SEC, while the women were picked second.
Ole Miss cross country is coming off a 2018 season that saw the Rebel men earn the first SEC Championship in program history after knocking off favored Arkansas, which had won the title for eight straight years. The Rebel men followed up their success at the NCAA South Regional with a first-place finish, before placing 17th at the NCAA Championships where Waleed Suliman was named an All-American.
The Rebel women also had a 2018 season to remember, finishing third at both the SEC Championships and NCAA South Regional. The squad concluded its season by placing 22nd at the NCAA Championships, which marked the best national finish in program history.
Competition will begin at 9:20 p.m. CT this Saturday in Memphis.
