QUICK KICKS
• Ole Miss is coming off of a 2-0 trip on the road in Kentucky. The Rebels began the road swing with a hard fought 1-0 victory over WKU in double overtime before outlasting Murray State in a thrilling 5-4 offensive explosion.

Julia Phillips registered the first multi-goal game of her career against the Racers. The senior captain is second among all Rebels with three goals in 2019.

• The Rebels are in the midst of a four-match winning streak, the longest streak since rattling off five victories in a row from August 27 to September 10, 2017. Each of the last three wins have been by a single goal.

• Ole Miss is receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Poll for the second-consecutive week and third week overall. After garnering seven votes last week, Ole Miss received 13 votes in this week's poll.

• Ole Miss leads the SEC in shots with 130 attempts on goal, tying for the third most goals in the league with 14.

• Not only do the Rebels' 69 corner kicks in 2019 lead the SEC by a wide margin, Ole Miss' 11.50 corners per game is the highest rate in the nation.

Channing Foster is tied for second in the league with five goals in 2019, ranking fourth in the nation with three game-winning goals.

• Foster's 32 shots are a league high, seven more than Vanderbilt's Haley Hopkins in second place. The junior ranks 10th in Division I with 4.83 attempts per game.

SCOUTING LONG BEACH STATE
Long Beach State is in its 16th season under the direction of head coach Mauricio Ingrassia, who has guided the 49ers to eight Big West regular season or tournament championships, seven bids to the NCAA Tournament and a trip to the Elite Eight in 2011. LBSU, the Big West regular season and tournament champions in 2018, are 2-3 on the season with all three losses coming against Power 5 conference opponents in UCLA, Penn State and Nebraska.

Through five matches, Long Beach State does not have a player on the roster with multiple goals in 2019, with all seven of the 49ers scoring efforts coming from different players. Senior Katie Pingel leads the team with four points on the year, scoring once while dishing out a pair of assists. Pingel is the team's leading returning scorer with four goals in 2018 as the top two scorers in Ashley Gonzales and Dana Fujikuni both graduated. In goal, junior Marta Alamany Sanchez has seen the bulk of the load, appearing in all five matches and posting a 1.22 goals against average with a .786 save percentage.

SERIES HISTORY - LONG BEACH STATE
Thursday's meeting will be the first-ever contest played between Long Beach State and Ole Miss. It will be the first regular season meeting with a team from California for Ole Miss since taking on Santa Clara in Oxford in 2010.

SCOUTING SOUTH ALABAMA
Richard Moodie is in his third season as the head coach at South Alabama, having led the Jaguars to the Sun Belt title and an NCAA Tournament trip in his first season. Part way through his third campaign, South Alabama has registered a 26-16-4 overall record with Moodie at the helm. The Jaguars are off to a 4-1-1 start to their season, with the lone loss coming in a 0-1 defeat against Southern Miss in Hattiesburg.

South Alabama leads the Sun Belt Conference in virtually every offensive statistic imaginable, including goals, assists, points and shots. On the other side of the pitch, the Jags have allowed the third fewest goals in the league, conceding five times. Senior forward Briana Morris leads the Sun Belt with eight goals on the season, fourth most in the nation, while forward Chloe McGlade has scored three goals with three assists for nine points. Midfielders Athanasia Maraitou and Gracie Wilson pace USA with four assists apiece. Senior Justice Stanford has started all six matches and played all but one half between the posts, posting a 0.87 GAA with a .750 save percentage.

SERIES HISTORY - SOUTH ALABAMA
The Rebels and Jaguars have battled seven times in the 25-year history of the series, with Ole Miss owning a 5-2 advantage, including wins in each of the last two meetings. The Rebels have welcomed South Alabama to Oxford four times, with Ole Miss coming out on top in three of the contests. Ole Miss visited Mobile, Alabama last season for a matchup with the Jags, with Ole Miss earning a 2-1 victory at The Cage.

LAST MEETING - SOUTH ALABAMA (9/2/18)
MOBILE, Ala. -
Ole Miss came out flying, scoring a pair of goals inside of 11 minutes, and held on late to thwart South Alabama's comeback attempt, defeating the Jaguars 2-1 at The Cage.

Channing Foster got the Rebels on the board in the sixth minute, firing in a shot from the right wing that had enough pace to find the netting despite South Alabama keeper Justice Stanford getting a hand to it.

Just a few minutes later, Ole Miss was on the board again, scoring just after the clock moved past 10 minutes. This time it was Mary Kate Smith doing the honors, sending in a cross that looped over Stanford and in without the help of a redirection.

The Jaguars took advantage of a miscue from the Rebels attempting to play out from the back, with Moa Ohman cutting the Ole Miss lead to one with a finish from the center of the box in the 52nd minute.

South Alabama threw numbers forward in an attempt to find the equalizer in the closing minutes of the match but the Rebel defense was able to hold on, thwarting the comeback attempt and securing the victory for Ole Miss.

ROSTER CONNECTIONS
• South Alabama junior defender Deanna Green is from Madison, Mississippi, the home town of Rebel freshman Elle Muirhead. While Muirhead played at Madison Central HS, Green attended Brandon HS.

FOSTER APPROACHING MILESTONE
In just over two seasons at Ole Miss, Channing Foster has racked up 25 goals in a Rebel kit, with five already scored in 2019. The next time the two-time Second Team All-SEC performer finds the back of the net, she will also find herself in the Ole Miss record books, entering a tie for 10th in all-time career goals at 26. Through her first two seasons Foster is average 10 goals per year, which if carried over through her junior and senior seasons would put the Murray, Kentucky native fourth on the Rebel scoring list with 40 for her career.

PHILLIPS JOINS THE ATTACK
Senior captain Julia Phillips has seen an uptick in her involvement on the offensive side of the pitch in 2019, ranking second on the team with three goals this season. Those three goals match Phillips' scoring output from her first three seasons, two at Ole Miss and one at Florida State, put together. The Rebel midfielder has been extremely efficient with her offense, needing just 11 shots to record her three goals, putting five attempts on goal.

REBS OUT RACE THE RACERS
Battling both a game Murray State side and tough conditions at Cutchin Field in Murray, Kentucky, Ole Miss came back from a 2-0 deficit to rise victorious in a wild 5-4 shootout. Emma Heise put the Racers ahead just three minutes into the match before Miyah Watford's 18th minute goal doubled the MSU lead. Less than a minute later, Sophie Dineen was dragged down in the box and Channing Foster converted a penalty attempt for the second time in as many games to get the Rebels back into the game. Madisyn Pezzino's equalizer in the 29th minute wouldn't last long as Watford scored again less than a minute after play resumed but Julia Phillips brought the score level heading into halftime, scoring in the 32nd minute.

Following the halftime break, Ole Miss controlled possession but were hit against the run of play as Maddy Houghton was called for a foul in the 18 yard box for a penalty, with Racer Abby Jones scoring from the spot. However, a pair of goals in quick possession would give the Rebels the last laugh. Phillips registered her first ever multi-goal game in the 61st minute, heading in Pezzino's corner delivery. Just a couple of minutes later, Pezzino was fouled in the box and this time Haleigh Stackpole stepped up to score the penalty for the game-winner. The four goals were the most ever conceded by the Rebels in a victory.

FROM THE SPOT, FOR THE WIN
For the second consecutive match, Ole Miss needed nearly every minute of overtime to pull out a win but in the end the Rebels did just that, defeating WKU on the road in Bowling Green behind a penalty kick golden goal from Channing Foster in the 108th minute. After a somewhat even affair in the first 45 minutes, the Rebels dominate possession and owned nearly all of the attacking chances from the second half on, but just couldn't find the final ball to put home the game's first goal. After the halftime break, Ole Miss outshot the Hilltoppers 13-5 while racking up 13 corner kicks. The Rebels finally broke through after WKU keeper Anne-Marie Ulliac was called for bringing down Julia Phillips in the box. Foster stepped up to the spot and calmly buried the penalty, helping the Rebs escape with a well-earned road victory.
