Scott Finished 10th Overall in his First Race in Nearly Two Years

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ole Miss redshirt junior Parker Scott has been named the SEC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Scott – a native of Corpus Christi, Texas – ran in his first race for the Rebels in nearly two seasons, finishing 10th to lead the Ole Miss men at the Commodore Classic last Saturday. Scott finished with an 8K time of 24:41.9, leading all SEC runners at the meet and helping push the Rebel men to a fourth-place team finish.

Scott missed the entire 2018-19 cross country and track seasons due to injury. As a redshirt freshman in 2017, Scott earned NCAA All-South Region honors and was on the SEC All-Freshman team. Additionally, Scott was an NCAA Outdoor qualifier in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase in 2018, where he finished 17th for Honorable Mention All-American status.

Ole Miss men's and women's cross country will rest for the next two weekends before heading to Notre Dame for the Joe Piane Invitational on October 4.
