Rebels to Play 29 Games vs. Preseason Top 25 Teams in 2020 Regular Season
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Perfect Game released its preseason top 25 on Wednesday, slotting Ole Miss baseball at No. 18 in the nation going into the 2020 season.
The Rebels are one of nine teams from the Southeastern Conference to earn a preseason top-25 nod. Vanderbilt (No. 2), Arkansas (No. 4), Auburn (No. 6), Mississippi State (No. 8), Georgia (No. 10), Florida (No. 13), Ole Miss (No. 18), LSU (No. 20) and Texas A&M (No. 22) made the SEC the most-represented conference in the rankings.
All eight of those SEC squads appear on the Rebels' 2020 schedule, in addition to a season-opening series with No. 1 Louisville and a trip to No. 23 East Carolina, giving Ole Miss 29 games against preseason top-25 teams, 15 of which will be played at Swayze Field.
Mike Bianco's team will consist of a solid core of returners on the pitching staff and in the starting lineup, who will be supported by numerous key contributors from the nation's No. 2 recruiting class.
Preseason All-American third baseman Tyler Keenan is back alongside fellow star junior shortstop Anthony Servideo and 2019 Freshman All-American Kevin Graham to lead the offensive attack. Meanwhile, Preseason All-American left-hander Doug Nikhazy returns along with talented sophomore right-hander Gunnar Hoglund to make for a formidable start to the weekend rotation.
Ole Miss opens spring practice on January 24 with its first spring intrasquad set for January 25. The Rebels will begin the 2020 campaign at home on February 14 against Louisville, the top-ranked team coming into the season.
