Women’s Tennis Finishes Strong at Hail State Classic

Rebels Won Six Matches on Sunday
STARKVILLE, Miss. – Ole Miss women's tennis won six total matches, including four doubles contests, at a competitive end to the Hail State Classic on Sunday.
To conclude the event, Ole Miss competed in two iterations of doubles, followed by one round of singles. The Rebels collected all of their wins against Crimson Tide opponents, while only facing the Bulldogs once. The Rebels collected 13 total victories across two days in Starkville.
Each Rebels pairing won at least one doubles match on Sunday. Ole Miss No. 1 doubles team Alexa Bortles and Sabina Machalova led the way with two victories. The duo beat Isabella Harvison and Moka Ito, 6-2, and Vanesa Nikolovova and Anna Parkhomenko, 6-4. Harvison and Ito are the Crimson Tide's top-ranked pairing and had three doubles losses all of last season.
TIphanie Fiquet and Lillian Gabrielsen also won 7-5 over Harvison and Ito. Kelsey Mize and Reka Zadori edged-out Alabama's Sasha Gorchanyuk and Sydney Orefice 6-4.
In singles, Ole Miss played all five matches against Alabama rivals. Finishing her match first, Fiquet swiftly won 6-2, 6-2 over Ito. For the event, Fiquet won two-of-three singles matches.
In the final match of the Hail State Classic, Zadori slugged-out a 6-7 (3), 6-1, 7-6 (3) victory versus Gorchanyuk. Zadori defeated Gorchanyuk in both singles and doubles on Sunday. The two foes combined to play 43 total games, sharing the court for more than three hours.

The Rebels will return next weekend to compete at the Alabama Fall Invite in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, from Oct. 23-25.
